What users are saying about the Stihl ms250 gas chainsaw
I was looking for a saw to start home fire wooding and glad I talked myself out of getting the MS170 and the sort. The MS250 was on promotion and it was a no brainer for the price. Paired the the 18″ bar I started hauling back wood scores left and right. I went through a whole 5 gallons before I was able to grab a used MS291. Once you get bit by the firewood bug there’s little turning back. The MS250 is great for handling all day, it had plenty of power to serve its purpose. It will be part of the pack on every trip.
A few weeks ago we were hit with a massive ice storm that knocked down several trees in the neighborhood blocking us in. I walked a few blocks to the local hardware store and picked up a life saver, better known as the MS-250! This beauty was like a hot knife through butter on the fallen trees. My first but not last Stihl purchase. Also purchased the fuel mixture at the store and received added warranty which was very nice!
I bought this ms250 with the intentions of buying the ms180c or the 211C. Unfortunately an ice storm just hit and the 170 and 250 was all that remained. Well we all know the 170 is garbage, especially location of chain tensioner. I’m stihl silver device certified, I’ve started and ran about 2000 machines by Stihl. Never used a chainsaw to fall trees or limbs till this day! The MS250 lacks the easy start feature ( I don’t mind as I can start the ms311 and larger without trouble), the handle is not ergonomically perfect,(I prefer this one), and I think filter may be different? The machine starts perfect with 2-3 pulls from 1st/cold start after 5 pumps on primer bulb. Starts after 1-2 pulls on 2nd/warm start and runs wonderful. Dripped a tad more bar oil when sitting off after using it for an hour. (Be sure to retention all chains often, especially new ones !! And be sure to lessen it up before storage of machine!! ) I jus adjusted the oil set screw on bottom to slow that down! I have owned most there machine types. I have the rb800 pressure washer, had the km 131 with all attachments. (Traded these out for my ego battery powered. (I hate the stihl battery power). Overall I would recommend this machine if you not elderly or weak muscles. I’m 108 lbs but very strong. Starts easy runs great, fantastic machine!
