The STIHL MS 170 is the perfect lightweight chainsaw for homeowners seeking a great value. Compact, lightweight with just the right amount of power, the MS 170 makes quick work of trimming or cutting small trees, fallen limbs after a storm and other tasks around the yard.
Stihl has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment
The Stihl anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience
The Intellicarb compensating carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engines correct RPM
Intellicarb uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel
The air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the Intellicarb system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow
The Ematic guide bar, when used with STIHL Oilomatic saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods

What some users online have said about the Stihl ms170
Great saw for the price. Have used it frequently with no problems especially using the Stihl premix fuel. Bought a Stihl pole saw since and will use Stihl products from now on.
I have cut 12 cords of 100in birch logs in the past month! I bought the Stihl chain sharpener as well and holy that thing works magic as well. Sharpened thr blade 4 times total and everytime it cut like butter! This little saw is a beast!
I’ve only used this a 170 a couple times. It is great for trimming small limbs, small trees. I’ve had a WB 250 for nearly 40 years and have been pleased with this work horse – no tree too thick, no wood too tough; and it still runs great. However I needed to scale down to something lighter weigh and for smaller jobs; hoping the MS 170 will be as tough and trouble-free.
